Today, November 26th, 2020 is Thanksgiving, a day to remind one another of the many reasons there are to be grateful.
We would like to take this time to give thanks to you, and many other generous supporters, who make it possible for us to continue doing the work that we do helping support field projects through volunteer recruitment, fundraising, public education, political support networks, and promoting education and training on peace and nonviolent strategies, as well as conducting outreach activities to build awareness for the field of human rights, peace and conflict resolution in the United States.
Your support has been essential to our continuous work helping protect human rights defenders and social leaders in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Kenya, Indonesia and Nepal, especially during this challenging year.
In addition to being grateful, today is also a day to remember the communities affected by violence and human rights abuses and the many indigenous communities fighting tirelessly against powerful extractive industries to ensure the protection of the land and the environment.
As countries that we work with are hit with the second and third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to think about the vulnerable communities that live without access to water, healthcare and sanitation and other necessities that are essential to ensure the safety of the communities during this time. We also express solidarity with the people in Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico, and those most affected by Hurricanes Eta and Iota.
Finally, we would like to remind you that this coming Tuesday, December 1st, is Giving Tuesday, the international day to give to nonprofit organizations. Please, read our message here for more information on how you can get involved.
We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you again for your support!
Sincerely,
Jorge Rodriguez-Larrain
