PBI-Guatemala strengthens telephone contact with human rights defenders during the COVID-19 pandemic

On April 8, the Peace Brigades International-Guatemala Project noted in its most recent Monthly Information Package both the strengthening and continuation of the telephone accompaniment of human rights defenders.

PBI-Guatemala highlights: “The PBI team remains present in the country and has adapted its work according to the restrictions declared by the Guatemalan government in response to the COVID19 pandemic.”

PBI-Guatemala visits Chinautla Multisector members who advocate for the human right to water

On December 27, the Peace Brigades International-Guatemala Project posted, “Yesterday we visited the members of the Chinautla Multisectorial that is still in peaceful resistance for its defense of the right to water.”

The UN has noted, “On 28 July 2010, through Resolution 64/292, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water and sanitation and acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realisation of all human rights.”
