Peace Brigades International-Canada, CREDHOS, and Above Ground will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, April 29 at 3:30 pm ET (2:30 pm in Colombia) on the situation faced by environmental defenders challenging fracking and conventional extractivism in the Magdalena Medio region.

The webinar will highlight two key examples:
The Platero fracking pilot project near Puerto Wilches that ExxonMobil will implement likely in partnership with Toronto-based Sintana Energy. And the conventional oil field operated by Calgary-based Parex Resources near Simacota.

It will also feature Montreal-based Karen Hamilton of Above Ground who will comment on Canadian government support for oil and gas operations in Colombia and the new Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise.
The webinar will be hosted by the University of Toronto Professor Luis van Isschot who is also a member of the PBI-Canada Board of Directors.
