Financial Summary and 990 Reports

PBI-USA operates on a small budget, relying largely on individual donors to fund our operations.

PBI-USA allocates funds to the PBI International Office to support PBI's field offices, staff, and volunteers working to make peace and provide protective accompaniment during a global pandemic to threatened individuals and organizations representing over 300 human rights defenders. In 2021/2022, funds allocated to the PBI International office include a generous gift of $5,000 from donor Joseph de Rivera to support the work of PBI in Colombia.

PBI-USA engages in peace education and outreach activities that support the protection needs of human rights defenders accompanied by PBI, including conducting virtual and in-person speaking tours, implementing online educational campaigns, maintaining a U.S.-based advocacy post, sending alerts regarding threats to defenders, and delivering community and university (zoom) talks and presentations.

PBI-USA also provides volunteer recruitment and support, including engaging in volunteer recruitment activities for prospective PBI field volunteers, providing support to current volunteers, and mentoring support for returned field volunteers.

Our fiscal year runs October to September and our federal 990 tax return is submitted each February. Below are the most recent reports.
